7 Proof of the Beauty of Patagonia, ‘Place of Heaven’ at the End of the World
Those who like nature tourism will know that Patagonia is more than just the name of an eco-friendly outdoor gear brand.
Patagonia is an area at the southern tip of South America guarded by the borders of Argentina and Chile.
The existence of Patagonia seems to complement the meaning of the colors of the Argentine flag: blue, white, blue, which is often called the surrounding community symbolizing the sky, glaciers, lakes.
From the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, there are flights to El Calafate, one of the picturesque villages that serves as a base camp for hikers in Patagonia.
Gaze at the glaciers at Parque National los Glaciares
Glaciar Perito Moreno in the southern sector of the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares is a major tourist attraction in Patagonia.
Locally referred to as Glaciar Moreno, this ice cliff measures 30 kilometers long, 5 kilometers wide and 60 meters high.
Not only is the shape attractive to the eye, this glacier also has the uniqueness of moving constantly, recorded at 2 meters per day.
The movement of the glacier, of course, triggers an avalanche of ice cliffs that will make a thunderous sound. It’s very lucky if you can see it directly, especially the phenomenon when the ice cave collapses.
Meat culinary tour in El Chalten
In the television show ‘Traveler 2’, three Korean celebrities are seen enjoying a meat dish at a restaurant in El Chaltén. Asado and steak into the menu they ordered.
Besides the delicious taste – the meat does not smell fishy and the texture is soft – the price per portion is also relatively cheap compared to the meat menu at restaurants in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
If you have the opportunity to travel to Patagonia after the pandemic, please stay overnight at Linda Vista to be able to enjoy the experience of staying like Ahn Jae-hong, Kang Ha-neul and Ong Seong-wu.
At his inn, the three of them cook Chapaguri and steaks bought cheaply at the El Chaltén supermarket.
Trekking on Mount Fitz Roy
Mount Fitz Roy’s real name is Chaltén, which in the Tehuelche dialect means “smoky mountain”. The name comes from a rare aeolic phenomenon that makes its peaks always surrounded by clouds so that they appear smoky.
Not only experienced climbers can visit here, there are also easy trekking trails that only take 2 to 3 hours and the option to climb the “granite wall”, with varying degrees of difficulty.
Together with a tour guide, tourists can also feel camping at the same time to walk on Lake Capri to see the sunrise the next morning.
Whale watching tour in Puerto Madryn
Patagonia offers some of the best whale watching spots in the world and Puerto Madryn is one of the most popular destinations.
The warmer, more enclosed waters along Golfo Nuevo, Golfo San José and the coastline near Caleta Valdés are the main breeding zones for whales between June and mid-December.
Standard whale watching trips last an hour and a half, but longer excursions are also available.
Penguin viewing tour in Punta Tombo
Penguins can also be found in Argentina, precisely on the peninsula of Punta Tombo. This expanse of gravel and sand-covered land is home to the largest colony of Magellanic penguins in South America, with more than one and a half million of them coming to breed each year.
Coming from Brazil in September, they stay until April and are very happy to have tourists walk among them. But remember not to touch them.
See the seven lakes in Bariloche
Bariloche is the largest lake area in Patagonia.
Famous for chocolate, skiing and of course, its lakes, Bariloche is a must-see on any trip to Patagonia.
Road-trips and swimming in the lake are favorite tourist activities for tourists here.
Bariloche is a haven for the outdoors, so be prepared to take in world-class views after hiking or trekking on one of the many trails the area has to offer.

To the ends of the world in Ushuaia
Ushuaia has long been known as the “end of the world”, due to its remote location.
The city, which is on the border of Argentina and Chile, can be visited by night bus from El Chaltén and then by ferry. The duration can be around 17 hours.
Ushuaia is the last tourist destination visited by tourists after exploring the glaciers, mountains and lakes of Patagonia.
Follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin and sail the Beagle Channel, and send postcards from the ends of the world to relatives from Ushuaia.
